- Take anti-inflammatory medicine – Ibuprofen and aspirin are effective in decreasing swelling and pain. Only use medication occasionally to reduce your chance of developing side effects from over-using anti-inflammatory medicine.
- Buy shoe inserts – Orthotics can help prevent shin splints from getting worse. They can be customized for you or purchased off-the-shelf.
